How To Control Third-Party Apps On Facebook?

Anil

Don't let malicious third-party apps steal your Facebook data.

As recently announced by Facebook, users will get an alerting notification whenever they use Facebook credentials to connect with a third-party app, aiming to notify users about how their own Facebook login details will be used by such apps in the future. However, we sometimes forget about the existence of some very old sessions in the past. In case you’re worried about your privacy, it's not hard to address such a problem. Here’re ways to control and prevent third-party apps from stealing data from your Facebook account.

On Desktop

Step 1: Open a browser > Facebook > Log into Facebook with your own credentials.

Step 2: Click on the drop-down icon > Choose the "Settings" menu, then the “Apps and Websites” section.

Step 3: Under the “Active” section, tap on “View and Edit”.

Step 4: If you want to completely take down the app, tap on the “Remove” option, and confirm it again.

On iPhone and Android

Step 1: Log into your Facebook app

Step 2: Head to Menu tab with a three-line button at the bottom of the right.

Step 3: Scroll down to find the “Settings and Privacy” section, then choose “Settings”

Step 4: Navigate to the “Security” section and tap on “Apps and Websites”

Step 5: Choose “Logged in with Facebook” > “Active” > “Edit”. Here’s where you can start editing the permission for each app.

Step 6: As said above, you can also decide to completely “Remove” any third-party apps from your account. Click on “Remove” again when the platform prompts a confirmation box to make sure that you really don't want it anymore.
