Apple Watch has saved lives again. Phillip Esho was reportedly riding his jet ski to go from the 31 Street Harbor to McCormick Place to take some photos of the Chicago skyline. Esho fell into the water after his jet ski was flipped over by a big wave, according to a report of 9to5Mac.
At that time, he lost his phone and nearby people could not see or hear him as the waves kept pushing him down under the surface even though Esho had a floating device with him.
He then used the SOS (sophisticated operating system) feature on his Apple Watch to call emergency services. For his first call, he said what the dispatcher was trying to say couldn’t get through his mind. By the time the call was reconnected, the rescue officials had arrived at the scene.
This is not the first time an Apple Watch has saved someone’s life. Recently, a doctor from California saved a heart patient using his Apple Watch Series 4. The doctor, Tommy Korrn MD, was having dinner at a restaurant when a diner suddenly collapsed. At that time, there was no ECG machine available, so Korn decided to put his Apple Watch on the man’s wrist to check his heart. The result suggested that the man was suffering from atrial fibrillation.
Last year, a story published on Aftonbladet, a Sweden-based publication, described how Gustavo Rodriguez was saved by his Apple Watch Series 4. Rodriguez was cooking by the stove when a back pain caused him to collapse onto the floor.
While he could hardly move, Rodriguez noticed the tapping of his watch, offering to call for an emergency. The man managed to call his mother-in-law who lives nearby. Shortly after the call, she arrived, switched off the stove, call for emergency services with which Rodriguez was taken to the hospital.
