So after many leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi Band 5, its next cheap fitness tracker. Mi Band 5 inherits the features of its predecessor Mi Band 4, along with a few notable upgrades in features, screen, bands, and charging method.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 still has an AMOLED screen similar to the Mi Band 4, but the size is slightly larger as well as improved brightness to 450 nits. Specifically, the screen of the Mi Band 5 has a size of 1.1 inches, 20% larger than the 0.95-inch screen of the Band 4. With a larger size, reading the information displayed on the screen of this watch will be easier.
In addition, Xiaomi also allows users to set watch faces with more than 100 different skins, including many wallpapers of famous characters like Conan, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Case Closed, Hatsune Miku, and SpongeBob SquarePants ... These wallpapers will be designed to match the color of the band on the Mi Band 5.
Speaking of bands, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will still have the same band design as its predecessors. This year, Xiaomi added up to 6 different color options for users to choose from, instead of just 3 colors like last year.
The notable upgrade on this year's Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is the charging method. Users are "fed up" with having to remove the Mi Band from the strap to be able to plug into the removable charging dock to charge the device. Xiaomi is equipped with magnet charger wire, users will now be able to charge directly to the Mi Band without having to remove the strap.
Xiaomi also upgrades the chipset of this new watch, which offers faster processing speed and more accurate tracking capabilities. In addition to 11 different health and fitness tracking modes, the smartwatch also provides additional menstrual tracking for female users. In addition, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will also calculate and provide a Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) score so that users can track the effectiveness of exercises for their own health. The device has a built-in barometer to measure atmospheric pressure and can also be used as a camera shutter remote control.
Regarding battery life, although not disclosing the battery capacity of the device. However, according to Xiaomi, Mi Band 5 still has a battery life of about 2 weeks, which is about 1 week less than its predecessors.
In terms of price, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will cost 189 yuan, equivalent to about Rs. 2,000 in the Chinese market for the standard version. The version that supports NFC will cost 229 yuan (around Rs. 2,500) and go on sales on 18 June.
