In the version Chrome 71 that will be launched next month, Google will enhance the capacity to block abusive ads on websites. That promises to make a difference over other Chrome versions.
In the previous Chrome versions, like Chrome 68, Google often adds a protection to prevent sites with abusive ads. However, in fact, the protection only blocks half of the disturbing sites.
When we surf the internet, we sometimes access to websites that automatically redirect our activity or take personal information illegally, or force us to open a new window. How frustrating it is! Google called it abusive ads. They may be fake messages, misleading site behavior, ads with missing branding, unexpected click areas, and the like.
Google has continued to look for an approach to handle this problem through its Chrome versions. For example, Chrome 68 helps users to prevent websites from open new windows or tabs. What is new in the next-month Chrome version?
Google unveiled that in the new version when a site is reported with abusive ads, its owner will have 30 days to remove these ads. If not, Chrome 71 will block all of the ads on the website, including normal ads. As such, it’s clear that Google is planning to apply the stricter punishment to misbehaving websites than it has been.
To check whether Google adds your websites on the list of websites with abusive ads, you only need to access to Abusive Experiences Report in the Google Search Console.
Of course, users can turn off this air-filter if they want; however, most of the Chrome users will seemingly choose to set this function as default.
Moreover, apart from the new function blocking the abusive ads, Chrome 71 will feature many different changes. One of those is applying the new autoplay policies. These policies aim to reduce automatically playing audio or video content when a new website is opened.
