In an effort to go up against Samsung and Apple, Puma, a well-known sports lifestyle brand, is going to release a smartwatch targeting fitness enthusiasts. The brand has worked together with Fossil to make a new Wear OS smartwatch on its own. Furthermore, the new gadget was revealed at IFA 2019 - the biggest annual tech expo in Europe.
Puma’s upcoming smartwatch has a sporty design. This device, in fact, is similar to the Sport smartwatch of Fossil. The case of this smartwatch is made of aluminum and nylon, along with a strap made of silicone. However, we haven’t known yet if these straps would be interchangeable. The device is waterproof of approximately 30 meters underwater. It sports an AMOLED display with a size of 1.9 inches. The smartwatch has three versions of colors, including rose gold, black, and yellow.
The smartwatch is based on Wear OS, so users will have no special onboard software but some regular software features which are available on every Wear OS smartwatch. Google Assistant is accessible on this device. In addition, the smartwatch does support Google Play so that users can make an in-store purchase.
The smart gadget is equipped with a GPS tracker as well as a heart rate monitor. There are also 4GB RAM, onboard 512GB storage, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor.
Puma is not the first and only brand that had collaboration with other firms creating a smartwatch. In 2018, Adidas has worked with Fitbit to release a special version of Fitbit’s Ionic smartwatch, which costs $299. Nike and Apple also have a strong partnership while releasing the Apple Watch Nike+ with a price tag of $399.
As for Puma's first smartwatch, the device will reportedly cost around $275. It wouldn’t appear on retails shelves until this November. A launch date in the Indian market is still unrevealed at present, but we all expect it to come as soon as possible.
