Nike has introduced its latest footwear with high technology to aim for both professional athletes and enthusiasts. They are self-lacing shoes called the Nike Adapt BB, of which, BB means basketball. Of course, they will be sold at an incredibly high price, but they may be absolutely worth it.
If you have ever watched “Back to the Future 2” and wished to own such shoes, the Nike Adapt BB will complete your dream. Nike designed this new footwear without laces, and users just need to press a specific button to make the shoes hold their feet. The company seems to bring more chances for us to get much lazier; however, it can’t be denied that the technology is actually exciting.
Along with your steps, the Adapt BB can realize the tension distribution via sensors integrated into a custom gear train and motor. When the power lace is activated, the shoes will automatically be adjusted to secure your feet from every angle.
Besides, users can control the form and fit of the self-lacing shoes via an app installed on their smartphones. In other words, Nike offers two usages to users, including touching them manually or access via the app. For example, to loosen up your shoes, you just have to reach a button; if your foot swells up after an hour of practices, adjust the fit or tighten the shoes as you want.
According to the manufacturer, materials used to produce the topside shell in black are “high-tenacity Flyknit material,” similar to those of other shoes. Meanwhile, the white shell in the middle is QuadFit mesh to ensure the most optimized fit. Also, Nike uses Cushlon foam for the midsole to minimize the possible impacts when wearers move or land fast.
That’s not all towards Nike’s hi-tech shoes. They feature their customizable LEDs that allows wearers to adjust through the app, as well as increase your attraction on the court. The number of these LEDs are twice as many as the physical buttons.
All the parts of the shoes, from the gear train, Bluetooth, and motor, get the power from an integrated battery that can run continuously in about two weeks. In addition, they are designed with a mat supporting the inductive charging.
Up to now, Nike has kept developing the firmware for the self-lacing shoes and planned to roll out the latest fit modes in the coming times. Also known as the Tesla in the shoes manufacturing world, the company has become more and more complete along with each software update, instead of just changing purchases.
Next month, the Adapt BB will be sold for about Rs 24,800 ($350), and even much costlier when they come to the Indian market.
