At the November 11 “One More Thing” event, Apple officially introduced its new MacBook Air with Apple M1 chip. This is the first MacBook Air and also the first Mac to have Apple’s Arm-based CPUs.
According to Apple, the new MacBook Air is capable of delivering up to three times faster performance than the best-selling Windows laptop in the same segment and faster than 98% of PCs sold last year.

Apple also announced that its new M1 chip has better performance and more efficient energy consumption than any Intel chip.
By switching to Arm systems, iOS and iPadOS apps can be run natively on macOS. Apple has also updated its macOS apps like Numbers, Keynote, and Pages. At its June event, the company demonstrated how Photoshop and Lightroom running smoothly with the new processor. macOS Big Sur that the Air has Rosetta 2, an emulator that can “translate” any apps have not been ready for Arm.
The Arm systems’ biggest advantage is better battery life. Apple claims that this new MacBook Air will have the longest battery life ever. You will have 15 hours of web browsing wirelessly and 18 hours of streaming videos. It uses a 49.9Wh battery and comes with a 30W USB-C PD charger.

In terms of specs, the laptop still comes with the same 13.3-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, a backlit Magic Keyboard, 2TB of storage, and 16GB of memory. WiFi 6, Touch ID, and Bluetooth 5.0 are supported. You will have two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Similar to its predecessor, the new MacBook Air still has the same 720p webcam. However, Apple says that with the new image signal processor of the M1 chip, the camera will be able to deliver better results.

The new MacBook Air has a starting price of $999. Consumers can pre-order today and receive the machine on November 17.
