Indian Students Develop UV E-Sanitizer To Kill COVID-19 On Your Belongings

A 23-year-old student in India has just developed a device called UV E-Safe Kit that can kill nearly all types of viruses including COVID-19.

People have taken multiple measures to prevent getting infected with COVID-19, but the cases are still increasing rapidly. They are now even cautious about simple things like using smartphones or shaking hands because the coronavirus can easily stay in your smartphones or hands. Therefore, it is necessary to sanitize your smartphone displays and hands when you come home.

That is why aside from face masks, sanitizers are one of the most important things that we need to carry around. However, sanitizers might not be highly effective on things like smartphones or keys.

K. Goutam Kumar

In order to solve this issue, a 23-year-old K. Goutam Kumar along with his friends at Bhartiya Skill Development University, have managed to develop a UV E-Safe kit, which is a sanitation device that allows users to sterilize their belongings with powerful UV light. You can keep your things like currency notes, keys, smartphones, jewelry in the metal contraption. According to Kumar, users can even place the device in a wardrobe drawer or a cupboard to disinfect things that you commonly touch to stop the virus from spreading.

The UV E-Safe Kit, developed by K Goutam Kumar and his peers, is touted to have the ability to kill nearly all types of viruses and bacteria with a nearly perfect success rate (99.9 percent). In addition, unlike its competitors, this device is said to allow users to adjust the exposure of the UV rays based on the number of things you put in it. With the robust CKT design technology, the box itself will last pretty long.

Prof Achintya Choudhury, President, BSDU, said that "It is a sanitation device that sterilises money, notes, documents, files and many more things that otherwise are impossible to sanitize through conventional means. The use of ultraviolet ensures that up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria and pathogens are killed in a minute. It's safe and moreover it is portable as the sleek design makes it easy to carry it around.

"The kit can kill almost all types of bacteria and viruses. UV rays exposure can be controlled as well. The box has been made using a robust CKT design technology which makes it long lasting. Also, it has zero maintenance and hassle free installation," said Prof Ravi Kumar Goyal, Principal, School of Entrepreneurship Skills.
