A tech company based in Los Angeles called PORTL Inc has recently launched a hologram machine called StoryFile X Epic PORTL.

The device looks a lot like a phone booth and what it does is to allow people to visit each other as holograms. According to PORTL, the hologram machine can also be used to meet dead relatives and historical figures.

Let’s hear David Nussbaum, PORTL’s CEO explaining how the hologram machine works in the video below:

The tech company said the machine can beam people from anywhere in the world and generate animations.

The booth comes as the price of $60,000 and operating it is as simple as plugging in and pressing “Start.” However, what goes behind the scene is what makes this invention the high-tech machine.

It appears to record holograms, you will need a photo studio.

The price tag and the strict requirements to produce holograms will limit the number of people who can afford and actually use the machine but there is no denying what the StoryFile X Epic PORTL can enable.

The StoryFile part in the name of the machine refers to StoryFile, a company working on storytelling. The two firms collaborated on animations and historical figures.

While they don’t elaborate on how exactly they work with each other on this project, it appears StoryFile is in charge of making some kind of specially recorded content for the hologram machine.

With StoryFile’s tech inside, the machine will cost up to $85,000, a price not many individuals can afford. However, museums and entertainment venues may find the invention worth their attention.
