Here Is What We Know About Apple AirPods 2

We may have a whole new color scheme with the AirPods 2

When Apple released its truly wireless earbuds, many expect that we would see the AirPod 2 coming soon. However, the truth is we end up having an enhanced version of the first one. While the new AirPods pack some exciting new technology, like the wireless charging feature, they are not AirPods 2. However, they are coming shortly, which is at least, a piece of good news.

Rumors have been circling for some time about the water-resisting function and noise cancellation. And finally, there is a time period, which is the end of this year, or the beginning of next year. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, we may have two new headphones coming, not just one.

Apple AirPods 2

Let’s not confuse the AirPods 2 with the 2019 updated version of the AirPods. And from what we know so far, they will be released in the first half of 2020, in the first few months to be specific. About the price, it is believed that Apple will ask for a similar sum of money as the updated AirPods.

Since Apple has just introduced its truly wireless earbuds, AirPods 2 will not come out soon, like in the next few months. Last year, Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone maker would add wireless charging feature to its original earbuds and made it completely wireless. After that, Apple would introduce a whole different model in 2020. So far, he is correct with the improved earbuds, so we have good reasons to put our trust in the rest of his prediction.

Apple might want to save cool features like a new color scheme, biometric sensors, and water-resistance for the AirPods 2.

What's new with the AirPods (2019)

Apple does not seem to care about coming up with a new design for its earbuds. When AirPods 2 arrives, we will probably see improvements with what is inside. The company has made a whole new H1 chip just for the upcoming earbuds. The chip comes with features like more efficient battery life, better connectivity times, and you can summon Siri with your voice.

One of the new functions found on the upgraded 2019 AirPods is wireless charging, which lets you can place the case on any Qi-compatible charging mat to fill it with power. About the sound, there is no significant improvement in this respect in comparison with the model you had in 2016.

Apple AirPods 2, What The Public Expect

Noise-cancellation

Noise cancellation

A few years ago, what troubled Apple was how to make their earbuds truly wireless. However, when they have already fulfilled that goal, the next step is to squeeze in more cool features into the already-established and completely wireless earbuds.

Sony has added noise cancelation to its Sony WF-1000X, and many people expect Apple to follow suit by giving its users a similar thing on the new AirPods 2.

More physical controls

Apple does not seem to like buttons very much, but they still have to admit that in some cases, they can come in handy, like on the new earbuds for example.

Most newer generations of headphones have inbuilt controls so that users can playback or turn the volume up or down without taking the phone out, turn it on, and function on it. The original model of the AirPods does let you do that to a certain degree, but they rely heavily on Apple’s voice assistant, Siri.

In the 2019 version, there has been a significant upgrade that allows users to take more control of the earbuds without asking for Siri’s help. For example, if you want the music to play again when it is paused or jump to the next track when something else is playing, tap twice on the right bud. However, that much is the extent of the upgrade we have with this version.

Many people expect the AirPods 2 to make another significant upgrade and give users more control with the earbuds, a function to go back or go forward more easily for instance. If Apple really does that, most users will be impressed.

Changeable ear tips

Apple is not a fan of rubber either, so its earbuds follow the design of slender white plastic strictly. However, many users hope that the tips should be improved, especially when there is no wire there to hold on to if the bud falls.

So to please the needs of users, if the AirPods 2 have a range of changeable ear tips to give users more choices on what fit their ears will be the best way forward. The model will definitely wireless, freeing us from the hassle if cable, so if Apple can change its mind about ear tips, that would be a great combination. There have been cases when users make their own tips by taking out the same things from other earbuds and fit them on the AirPods.

We will not see any change in the design of the 2019 upgraded earbuds, but the AirPods 2 might have something new with its appearance.

Better Android pairing

Pairing AirPods with iPhones is always easy

Apple has always wanted to make all of its devices to work seamlessly with each other, and most of the time, they have. However, not everyone wants to purchase a whole pack of Apple merchandises so if the AirPods 2 can pair with Android devices better, that would be nice.

Currently, with iPhones, you do not have to do much. Just put the pair near the phone, and they will connect automatically.

Things are not so comfortable with Android. You will have to access settings, connect to the AirPods manually. Apple may not give another operating system the advantage it holds exclusively for its iPhones, but who knows, the company might be in the mood to share.

Different designs and colors

AirPods 2 might have black color

AirPods have been loyal with the color white forever, but when Apple gives iPhones and iPads new color scheme, users want the same thing for AirPods 2 too. And if Apple really does that, we might have our phone, our iPad, and our AirPods in matching colors.

Rumor has it that the 2020 AirPods will be black, but we do not know that for sure.
