Google Duplex Makes Its Way To iPhones And More Android Devices

Before this huge reach out, only Pixel smartphone owners can use Google Duplex.

Google is bringing Google Duplex voice assistant, which sounds incredibly human, to more devices. According to a spokesperson from Google on Wednesday, this new digital assistant from the tech giant was developed to aid users in booking restaurant reservations is making its ways to more iOS and Android devices in the US.

It was earlier spotted by 9to5Google that Duplex’s support page says users of iPhones with previously installed Google Assistant and Android devices version 5.0 or higher can Duplex. However, the voice assistant doesn’t work everywhere. On Wednesday, XDA Developers reported that Duplex does work on the new Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.

Before this huge reach out, only Google Pixel smartphone owners can use Duplex. This March, the tech giant said that it was expending the voice assistant to Pixel users in 43 US states.

In May 2018, Google Duplex announced and showed off the assistant’s ability to make phone calls on behalf of its users. Rather than a robotic voice, Duplex has a human-like voice. In addition, it uses long remarks, fast speech, and complex sentences. Some capabilities of Duplex include scheduling appointments, making reservations, and obtaining information from businesses.

Those who want to use Duplex just need to ask Google Assistant to do a task such as scheduling an appointment or booking a table at some restaurant.

Google unveiled Duplex last year during its annual developer conference. And last summer, the company began rolling it out in beta. Since then, the assistant has raised a lot of concerns over its creepy human-like voice and its privacy. But it can’t be denied that Duplex is Google’s next giant leap in the field of digital assistant to go against major rivals like Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Microsoft’s Cortana.
