AI-Powered Robot First Used To Check For Problems In Indian Trains

AI-powered Robot in the railway industry is introduced by Central Railway of New Delhi in order to make trains safe by getting rid of the human mistake. Images and videos of the under-gears of trains will be captured by the robot and then sent to a technician for maintenance and fixing if needed.

The robot is known as Undergear Surveillance Through Artificial Intelligence Assisted Droid or USTAAD. It is equipped with an HD camera to supervise parts of the train and a WiFi transmitter to deliver data in real time. The HD camera rotates 320 degrees on X-axis and 130 degrees on the Y axis and is able to cover the most vision of the under-gear parts. Moreover, the robot can also recognize the sound of a flat tire.

He also implied that USTAAD would help engineers to keep an eye on areas that are difficult to observe and troublesome to reach such as restricted or tight spaces under-gear parts. The Central Railway is giving a thought to use USTAAD from one side of one zone to the other when the robot is fully tested.
