Amazon Launches Echo Auto In India At Rs 4,999

On January 7, Amazon launched its Echo Auto device that you can connect to the stereo system of your car for audio playback.

The device is available for pre-order now for Rs 4,999. According to Amazon, customers can receive their Echo Auto starting from January 15.

Echo Auto is equipped with an eight-microphone array that is specifically designed for the in-car environment as well as speech recognition technology. Your voice can be heard clearly over AC, music, and traffic noise outside.

The device is powered by your car’s USB port or 12V charging socket. It connects to the stereo system to play music via Bluetooth connection or a 3.5mm auxiliary cable. And via the Alexa app, it connects to Alexa installed on your smartphone. Echo Auto makes use of existing data plan to send messages, make a call, or stream music. You can ask Alexa to read the morning news, play an audible book, direct you to near petrol stations, coffee shops while on the go.

Amazon Devices India’s head, Parag Gupta said that Indian customers had expressed that they wanted to take Alexa everywhere they went. And now, with Echo Auto, their desire has been realized.

If a user asks for directions, Amazon Echo Auto will use the smartphone’s default navigation app and data plan to show them where they need to go.

Echo Auto, similar to other Echo devices, tries to protect users’ privacy as best as it can. It has a button to turn the microphone on or off which users can use to disconnects the microphones. Customers can access their voice recordings in the Alexa app or Alexa Privacy Settings and have full control over them.
