Do you know sometimes there are photos that we can zoom in, and an object in the background becomes so surprisingly clear to see?
For the following photo, you can zoom in and see an object from as far as two kilometers away.
The world's third largest image
This incredible image belongs to BigPixel Technology Corporation, aka Jinkun Tech. The company took this 360-degree image of the skyline in Shanghai from the Oriental Pearl Tower. Their picture has gain attention on social media lately.
Notably, the photo consists of 195 billion pixels.
They captured the images using cameras with high resolutions, then they stitched them together on specialized software. As a result, even if you cannot spot a human in the photo when you zoom in, you can see the face of the pedestrians.
Provided that one gigapixel equals one billion pixels, so to speak in another way, this photo is 195 gigapixels. To help you get a better idea of this, a 20MP camera on a smartphone can generate a picture consisting of 20 million pixels.
BigPixel confidently declares that their picture is more accurate than that taken by a regular consumer camera by 2,000 times. This photo is also the world largest image ever made and the largest one in Asia.

The largest on Earth consists of 365 gigapixels, taken in late 2014. It is a panoramic image of Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc. At the first look, all you can see are mountains and snow, but when zooming in, you can see several men climbing the rocks. It took two weeks and a team of five members to capture this photo.
The second largest picture on Earth is 320 gigapixels, also a panorama but taken in London. This one was captured from the BT Tower on the occasion of the Olympic summer of 2012.
In fact, there’s a much largest photo than the largest one mentioned here, the 681 gigapixel photo taken by NASA. However, it was taken from outer space, so it probably doesn’t count.
