Halloween has already ended for about two weeks but it seems like some people haven’t gotten over it. Bengaluru Police recently arrested seven YouTubers for dressing up as ghosts to scare unsuspecting citizens. NDTV reported that the group was arrested on November 12, after the suspects carried out their prank on the street of Bangalore on November 11. The group dressed in white overalls with red paint stain to resemble blood.

The act was for a prank video to be uploaded on their YouTube channel called “Kooky Pedia.” In the clip, the suspects can be seen running towards vehicles and civilians. In one particular case, one prankster even disturbed a sleeping man on the pavement in the city’s Yeshwanthpur area. The video can still be found on YouTube; however, it remains unclear whether it will still stay there.
It is believed that these pranksters are still in their early 20s. The police arrested the group based on a complaint that they had received from an auto driver who was also the group’s victim. After being arrested, all seven pranksters were charged with a number of charges under the Indian Penal Code, including wrongful restraint, public nuisance, unlawful assembly and more.
Their arrest has created varying reactions from social media users. Some wonder if the charges were too serious since it was just a prank after all. However; others strongly criticized their actions and behaviors, saying how their pranks could lead to people getting hurt. For now, the group has received bail. We will need to wait until the case goes on a trial to see if the court will uphold these charges.
