YouTube Stops Offering Ads On Anti-Vaccination Videos

Advertisers must spend more time and attention to handle their ads before the case becomes somewhat bigger.

BuzzFeed News has reported that the renowned video sharing website, YouTube, will no longer offer ads on a series of channels containing anti-vax or anti-vaccination videos.

However, some advertisers seemed not to realize that their advertisements were available on videos which protest against vaccinations.

Among the affected channels, there are some channels specializing in providing “alternative medicine” and anti-vaccination. According to The Verge, three of those YouTube channels are featuring about 473,000 subscribers on the video sharing platform.

The YouTube community just knew about the news after a YouTube user named Matt Watson uploaded a video a few days ago showing a “soft-core paedophilia ring”, as he said. The next story is a chain of big names rapidly removed their ads, from Epic Games, Nestle, and Disney. Fortnite, the well-known video game producer, was also one of these brands.

At the beginning of 2019, the World Health Organization or WHO considered the rising phenomenon of anti-vaccination as one of the scariest dangers to international health, in addition to air pollution and Ebola virus disease.

In 2000, the US claimed that they eliminated the deadly disease out of their nation. However, after some measles outbreaks occurred in many places of the whole world in recent times, a debate has arisen concerning the movement against vaccination.

YouTube has faced a fierce battle not only from paedophiles who are leveraging the platform to contact with each other but also from the anti-vaccination videos as mentioned above.
