You're Still Aware Of Your Surrounding Even After Your Heart Stops Beating

Scientists have just discovered some clues on what happens when our heart stops beating by studying cardiac arrest cases in Europe and the US.

What happens after death is always a big question for all of us. That's why religion exists, to give us a spiritual belief about what comes after we die.

Scientists believe that they may have found some clues on this although it sounds a bit abnormal.

Patients who were declared dead could still feel their surroundings

The discovery was made when researchers were working on heart attack cases around the US and Europe. Patients who experienced cardiac arrest and needed resuscitation could still describe their surroundings even after their heart stopped. Moreover, they also had the ability to recount the conversation between nurses and doctors.

Dr. Sam Parnia, who was the research's leading researcher said:

Capture

That's how things have always been up until now. Essentially, when a person's heart stops beating, blood doesn't circulate to the brain anymore. So the brain shuts down. But it seems like this process could need several hours to be completed which will lead to the possibility of a "technically" dead person perceiving their surroundings.

Researchers hope that this finding will contribute to the treatment for cardiac arrests in the future to prevent brain damage from happening during resuscitation.

Dr. Parnia also mentioned:

Capture

On the other hand, it sounds creepy if you imagine yourself as a person lying in a hospital bed with everyone saying you are dead while you still hear and know exactly what they are saying.
