Women’s Leadership Centre: HCL Technologies Sets Up A New Facility For Women In North Carolina

On December 21, HCL Technologies confirmed that its new facility called Women’s Leadership Centre has been established in North Carolina, US. Through it, the company expects to bring a lot of chances regarding mentorship, leadership development, and STEM training to the feminine community.
According to a statement from HCL Technologies, the Women’s Leadership Centre should be treated as a vital footstep which showed the company’s commitment to increase its diversity in North Caroline. Besides, its collaboration with the local ecosystem, including communities and institutions, will promise to offer much more opportunities for leadership and careers which women may desire to gain in the technological field.
For those who are unaware of this term, STEM is an abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Back to the past, in 2008, HCL Technologies had its first global delivery center (GDC for short) established in North Carolina. After the 10-year development, the company has provided employment for about 1,500 workers.
Referring to many research reports, HCL Technologies realized that there will be approximately 1.4 million jobs in relation with computers by 2020; however, the percentage of jobs which women will occupy seems to be surprisingly low. It is only 3 percent.
Until now, the company hasn’t still revealed any detail concerning the investment it will plan to pour into this project.
When talking about its first global delivery center which is based on Cary, North Carolina, C Vijayakumar, the President and Chief Executive Officer of HCL Technologies said that the center has supplied a series of critical operations to its blue-chip clients. Among these clients, there are some hailing from the top companies all over the world.
According to the President, the establishment of the Women’s Leadership Centre will supplement one more unique element to its partnership with the community in North Carolina. HCL Technologies also hopes that this relationship will develop and ensure sustainability for a long time.
