For those who don't play video games on a regular basis (especially competitive game titles), the word “GG” may sound unfamiliar and a bit weird. Don’t worry! The guide below will help you have a deeper understanding of this Internet term.
What Does GG Mean?
GG normally stands for “good game”, and the word acts as a signal of enjoyment to show that you have fun during the battles of multiplayer video games like PUBG Mobile. Also, it is a friendly action at the end of the matches when you type GG in the chat, similar to a hug or a handshake after a live sporting show.
The word GG has been emerging around the late 90s to the beginning of the 2000s. When some of the multiplayer games such as Quake and StarCraft were getting more popular, game languages also started to get more attention. In a game battle, saying “GG” after a match means you are showing to your opponents the respect, and it is proper etiquette that every gamer should know.
Nonetheless, sometimes the word “GG” is not used in a positive manner. In some cases, saying this word isn't appreciated at all. As an example, if you text “GG” before winning the match is rude, as you are showing too much confidence about the results of the games. It will be even more embarrassing if you lose the games. So, it should be proper not to type GG before the match is over.

Other Variations Of GG
Over the years, there are some extensions of this gaming slang. One of which is GGWP, meaning “good game, well played”. This phrase shows that you are respecting and acknowledging the manner of your component, and the way your component has been playing fairly during the game. It is even more reasonable when you use GGWP when the components have successfully won the game at the end. In contrast, we have GLHF - “good luck, have fun”. We normally use that acronym early in the match, not at the end.
Other variations of GG can be GGEZ, meaning “good game, easy”. The phrase is used by those who have won the games, but in a negative manner after the domination of the games. Therefore, this is not a proper word during a match.
However, in some cases, GGEZ can be understood more ironically by the losing sides and winning sides. For winning sides, GGEZ is used after a long and hardworking match that they have been through.
