It’s undeniable that a lot of people are spending too much time on their phones, maybe even including you and me. How long do you use your phone daily?

It’s undeniable that a lot of people are spending too much time on their phones, maybe even including you and me. But a recent study indicates this in numbers, showing how much screentime we are spending. Mobile comparison site WhistleOut released a report that says the average American spends almost 9 years of their entire life on the phone.

In addition, it’s not a surprise that Millenials use their phones the most with around 3.7 hours per day, as revealed in the study. Meanwhile, Gen X uses their phone for about 3 hours per day while Boomers take 2.5 hours of their day to use the phone.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people are forced to stay inside their homes, so their interactions are moved online, which is why they are spending more time on their laptops and phones than ever.

However, along with that, tech addiction has also become a much bigger problem as mobile devices are playing an increasingly big role in our lives. Over the past years, people have been using their phones more and more while struggling to decrease their dependence on them.

Besides, the surveys found that cutting down on screentime won’t help people escape phone addiction. Despite this fact, giant tech firms like Facebook, Apple, and Google still launched tools to help users control their screen time.

In a recent documentary titled The Social Dilemma on Netflix, there were conversations about the influence of social media on our lives as well as mental health. The documentary outlined how they get people to use and stick to their products. From this film, Facebook was prompted to respond that the documentary buried the substance in sensationalism.
