Employees Might Be Under Intense Scrutiny Amid Lockdown

Some companies even impose software that can track every action that the employees do at their homes.

In an office, surveillance tech can be explained as it is used not only for cybersecurity but for reminding workers not to use company computers for personal business as well. According to Bloomberg, workplace surveillance software is transcending its limit and becoming mandatory for people working in their own homes, which means an invasion of privacy.

Furthermore, the surveillance tech which is applied to workers becomes more and more silly and illogical. Some companies even impose software that can track every action that the employees do at their homes. Notably, some specific programs can notice employees who print their CVs, and some can take a picture through the laptop’s camera every few minutes.

It is also reported that some employers have even asked their staff to partake in an all-day video conference with the aim of observing them.

As a matter of fact, executives consider surveillance as a way to promote productivity. But looking from another aspect, Axos Financial Inc. CEO Gregory Garrabrants, who is among the highest-paid banking CEO in the world, emphasized that he had noticed some of his employees taking unfair advantage of their flexible working timetable. Those who delayed their duties would be subject to disciplinary action, even termination, as provided by Bloomberg.

When being asked whether the similar harsh surveillance being forced on their staff or not, Axos spokesperson Gregory refused to answer. However, it is likely to be the truth.
