On Tuesday, Uber India announced that the company has already opened a new Uber Money team in India to strengthen its fintech segment in the country.
The company initially launched Uber Money in October 2019. In a word, it’s an in-house team under the direct management of Uber. Such a team will be in charge of researching financial products as well as technologies to support drivers and riders around the world.

With around 100 members, the Uber Team’s latest branch is the first such centre in the Asia region, which is located in Hyderabad. They’re all experts in various fields in tech, including data scientists, machine learning researchers, senior software engineers, and so on. Soon after the launch of Hyderabad Tech Centre, these professionals will start working on cutting-edge technology innovations to assist the company’s global campaigns.
According to a press release, the team has been ready for enabling new improvements. For instance, these include a new feature that addresses real-time earnings and updates for users’ debit accounts and cards alongside Uber Wallet and Uber credit cards for either drivers or riders. If successful, not only can people track their money flows via earning/spending history but they can also easily manage or move money. As such, the ride-hailing platform will be a handy app for payment.
Apart from the newly-opened centre in Hyderabad, Uber Money teams have been set up in several high-tech cities like New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Amsterdam.
