UAE's Largest Solar Plant Promises Electricity 6 Times Cheaper Than India

The electricity price will be 1.35cent or Rs 1.02/kWh per hour, which is 6 times cheaper than India’s electricity price at Rs 5.940/kWh per hour.

The energy sector is about to reach a remarkable milestone. The Abu Dhabi Power Corporation has agreed to build the world’s largest solar plant that will produce the cheapest electricity. According to schedule, the power plant will be finished by 2022 thanks to the partnership with several companies from France and China. The electricity price will be 1.35 cent or Rs 1.02/kWh per hour, which is 6 times cheaper than India’s electricity price at Rs 5.940/kWh per hour.

This abundant energy source can bring clean, cheap electricity to around 160,000 households in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, the clean energy industry has suffered significantly. In the US alone, about 106,000 employees working in the industry lose their jobs. The good news from the West Asian country will help boost the global clean energy industry.

However, it is worth noting that Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, posses a special element, contributing to the construction of the world’s largest power plant. As reported by Greentech, the electricity price will be affordable because Abu Dhabi has plenty of sunshine as well as cheap vacant land.

Another factor that helps the UAE capital achieve an impressive price í that solar cell technology has become much cheaper in recent years.

When the pandemic is over, we have to face the serious problem that has been haunting humanity for years: climate change. We will need more solar power plants to ensure a clean future.
