Two ex-Amazon India employees have just been arrested for stealing from an Amazon warehouse in Jamalpur village 78 iPhones worth about Rs 1 crore.
Both the accused worked at the warehouse of Amazon until September. For nearly two months, the pair stole one iPhone per day.

It is believed that the accused took advantage of the social distancing norms that had been brought in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Post lockdown, the warehouse resumed its operations. However, due to the new norms, frisking was not a mandatory procedure anymore.
It was only when an audit was carried out did the company discover that a large number of iPhones went missing from its inventory. By then, the two thieves had already quit their job to escape scrutiny.
In his police complaint, Aditya Singh from Amazon stated that on September 28, the company found empty iPhone boxes. And through an internal investigation, 78 phones were found to be missing.
On November 7, a complaint was registered at Bilaspur police station. The accused have already been caught. They have been identified as Nawab and Anshar-Ul-Haq from Nuh.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said that the two stole iPhones, threw away the boxes, and put the phones in their pocket before going out when their shift ended. When the company informed the police, the two thieves were about to sell the stolen iPhones.
Half of the stolen devices were recovered from the duo with an estimated value of about Rs 50 lakh.
