The fine this truck driver had to pay is said to be the highest until now.

On September 05, a man from Rajasthan must pay a Rs 1.41 lakh fine because his truck carried the goods over the maximum permissible load. Of course, he then had to go to Rohini court, New Delhi to pay this amount four days later.

The name of the unlucky truck driver was reportedly Bhagwan Ram. According to the updated Motor Vehicles Act, he became the first one that has to pay a huge amount for violating traffic rules.

Parliament passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 two months ago, in July. The new fines have officially taken into effect since September 01.

In early September, another truck driver from Sambalpur district, Odisha was fined up to Rs 86,500 for traffic violations. His name is Ashok Jadav. The fine he had to pay might be the highest one until the incident of Bhagwan Ram took place.

Overloaded trucks seem to appear in all streets in India.

His penalties included letting an unauthorized driver to drive (Rs 5,000), lacking a driving license (Rs 5,000), carrying loads over 18 tonnes (Rs 56,000), carrying projections larger than the allowable dimension (Rs 20,000), as well as general offense (Rs 500).
