This Touchscreen Is So Thin And Flexible That You Can Roll It Up

Some Australian researchers claimed that they have created an ultra-flexible and ultra-thin touchscreen material that we can roll it like a piece of paper.

As it is 100 thinner than regular materials we use to make a touchscreen, users can roll it up and make a tube out of it.

The material was made using a thin film found on a common touchscreen, reduce it from 3D to 2D. The whole process is done using liquid metal chemistry.

The sheets are compatible with our existing technology for electronic devices. And the process to make them is as simple as roll-to-roll.

According to Torben Daeneke, the lead researcher of this research, what they did was to take a familiar material and then transform it into something extra flexible and extra thin.

He said that the touchscreen made from this material can be bent and twisted. The best part was it can be manufactured faster and more cheaply than ever before.

The fact that the material is 2D means that it can be transparent, thus letting in more light. This benefits in the way that any smartphone with a screen made from their material will consume less power.

According to Daeneke, the touchscreen material does not call for any complicated equipment, in fact, it can be manufactured in a home kitchen.

While the conventional conductive glass absorbs up to 10% of light, this rate on the new material is just 0.7%, making it better at conducting electricity.

The team said that their invention can be used on applications like LEDs, touch displays, windows, and solar cells.
