It sounds fantastic that the original 35-year-old Macintosh keyboard and mouse can actually work on the modern iPhone with the help of some gadgets.

iOS 13 has come with a new feature that supports a mouse, which will hopefully bring the iPad closer to replacing a laptop. However, this YouTuber thinks that the feature can be used for an even better purpose. Napabar upgraded his iPhone X using an original Macintosh mouse and computer.

It is amazing to know we can use mouse and keyboard on the iPhone

It has been 35 years since the Apple Macintosh's M0100 mouse and M0110 keyboard were first released, decades prior to the modern gadgets like the Lightning connector. As a result, to connect the original hardware with the iPhone X, the YouTuber had to use two adapters. One of them was for the RJ11 cable of the keyboard, which is similar to one telephone cable while its wiring is different. Another one is for the mouse with a DE-9 serial port connector. It might sound complicated, but as nowadays ‘80s children are nostalgic for vintage hardware, looking for such adapters to make both peripherals USB companionable wasn’t difficult at all.

It requires some special gadgets to make things compatible

However, it was not the last entangled thing with adapters and dongles. He placed the iPhone on a stand which helped the Lightning connector USB compatible whereas it was connected with another USB hub that let the vintage hardware wire up simultaneously. You may be waiting for an exasperated story about finding the correct device software along with drivers to function this work as you have been in the ‘80s and ‘90s, spending plenty of time working with computers. But once they were joint, the antique peripherals were happily compatible with iOS.

To use a mouse on the iOS 13 handset, you need to turn on the Accessibility setting as well as the Assistive Touch. That’s the only complicated software procedure to finish. Using a keyboard and mouse on an iPhone is not what iOS was working for – ‘80s hardware is in the past. But it's thrilling to hear the sound of the original Mac keyboard's buttons and the 80s vibe is priceless.
