This Surat Boy Created An Edtech App For ‘Gujju Students’ On His Own, At The Age Of 15

Most children would spend their childhood going to school, playing with friends, or simply lazing around. However, there are always exceptions. Hitarth Sheth not only is a student from Bhulka Bhavan School based in Surat, Gujarat, India, but he also has the spirit of an entrepreneur trapped inside.

At grade 9, Hitarth found that other students searched materials on the Internet to prepare for their Board exams, leading them to wander around a lot of websites. As a result, they chose to take notes from those various sites.

Hiatarth himself faced another difficulty to keep up with lessons each time he missed school. The boy then had to search online for study materials. As a candidate and panelist of the Youth Venture Programme, Ashoka India, Hitarth had to travel to Bengaluru often and could hardly follow the lessons.

From this situation, at the age of 15, Hitarth founded with Gujju Student, a one-stop solution. The young developer said:

This is an edtech platform created for students from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB). Here, there are videos, textbooks, and multiple-choice questions that cover contents of classes 1 to 12 following the latest GSBE syllabus. Hitarth’s teachers also helped him compile and create the contents for the app.

Starting January 2019, he has added quizzes for students as preparation for their Board exams.

It’s worth noting that Hitarth mostly did all the job on his own, with the help from a site builder only. He manages to fix errors and bugs by learning from online forums as well as YouTube.

However, since working on the edtech app has taken a lot of his time, hence affected his result at school, Hitarth now spends only two hours each day on the platform and the rest is for his own study.

Looking to the future, Hitarth is aiming at funding while creating similar apps for other Boards like the Tamil Nadu State Board, Karnataka State Board, and Maharashtra State Board, which may be available this May. Furthermore, he wants to build a content team to include better and more content on the app.
