Muhammad Fayaz, a 30-year-old Pakistani popcorn seller, was so close to living his dream to become a pilot. On March 31, the police stopped him from conducting an unauthorized take-off and took his plane away, according to a report from Efe news.

Since Fayaz was in school, he had always dreamed of flying a plane. Unfortunately, he was so poor that he could not continue school and ended up dropping out before finishing his senior year.

We understand that CAA has its own regulations, but it’s an undeniable truth that this man is a hero for his persistence to pursue his dream. Instead of taking away his plane, we should have groomed the man, encouraged and helped him comply with the law while keep innovating his own work.

Talking to Efe news, Fayaz said:

Fayaz, who lives in Punjab province’s Pakpattan, took a bank loan of Rs 44,239 (equal to 90,000 Pakistan rupees), along with using his savings. He even sold a part of his land so that he could build the plane. Furthermore, he worked two jobs, in the daytime as a popcorn seller and at night as a watchman.

Fayaz built his plane more than a year ago at his own home with his own hands; no one helped him. By doing experiments, Fayaz taught himself about basic rules of air pressure as well as flying techniques. In addition, the man watched the ‘Air Crash Investigation’ show on National Geographic channels to have an understanding of planes and their functions.

Initially, he planned to fly his single-seater plane, with a national flag, on March 23. But the application seeking flight permission that he sent to the police and security agencies was never acknowledged.

The CAA commented that they appreciate Fayaz’s skills and passion and that they will give him the needed guidance to obtain more expertise in this field.
