This High-Tech Subway Is Equipped With Touch-Panel Windows

For the past few years, China has been investing quite a bit in its research for a lighter, faster, and more advanced subway. And now, they are testing this new subway in Guangzhou.

The representative of Guangzhou authority said that this new train could reach a maximum speed of 140kmph, 75% faster than the current model by using synthetic carbon fiber which is 13% lighter than the normal material. In addition, power consumption will be reduced by 15% as the subway is equipped with a silicon-carbide inverter and a permanent magnet synchronous motor.

But this subway is not only faster, but it has also been upgraded in terms of technology. The highlighted part is that all of the subway’s window panels have been replaced with touch screens.

Although it is not clear what these touch screens are for, in this digital age, this is clearly a big plus point to attract commuters.

The sound quality inside the cabins is improved greatly, with a better noise filter. This will allow passengers to listen to the announcements more clearly.

Guangzhou is the second city in China to test the subway of the future. The first test was carried out successfully back in June in Qingdao city.

Since then, this new subway model has gone through a secret testing phase. All information is strictly confidential.

Despite receiving many potential upgrades, the new subway doesn’t receive a warm reception from the local people. On Weibo, a user doubted the credibility of the news of this train. This person continued saying that if this train was really made from synthetic carbon fiber, it would be too costly to build the whole train.

Another user expressed that during rush hour, there would be too many passengers in one cabin that no one would care about the touch screen.
