Researchers have created an autonomous portable counter-drone system powered by machine learning and AI to defend ships, aircraft, and vehicles from possible drone threats.
Dubbed Titan, Citadel’s system forces drones to land without disrupting nearby electronics or communications, which will be perfect for use in urban, busy areas. Citadel Defense’s CEO Christopher Williams said:
“As the only automated RF (radiofrequency) sensor solution in the market that uses AI and machine learning to detect, identify, track, and safely defeat uncooperative drones, Titan is a force multiplier for the US and allied forces.”

Citadel points out that Titan can be set up easily in less than five minutes and it can scan an area much larger than the naked eye can see. The system is so easy to use that it doesn’t require signal expertise and users don’t need training.
For the system to be readily usable, it has been engineered for mobile, fixed, as well as dismounted operations, so one can use it as a stand-alone device or mount it on a vehicle. In addition, the system can detect drones on land, in the air, and underwater, track and store data for analysis and threat validation after each mission.
The system is powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence to pick up drone swarm threats within weeks, as opposed to months or even years.
Citadel developed Titan with the aim of protecting troops along with valuable assets from unwanted drone threats in case multi-sensor systems can’t be used. Its rate of false alarm is among the lowest right now and the system also offers targeted counter-measures as well as the broadest level of threat coverage when it comes to counter-drone solutions.
As drones are more and more developed year over year, it’s very important to have systems like Titan to protect lives and assets.
