The Pentagon spoke about their research and investigation of UFOs reports. This is the first time the Pentagon has confirmed its investigations of an unidentified flying object and it may make many conspiracy theorists happy. Moreover, the agency said that it currently investigates some reports on "unidentified aerial phenomena."
Christopher Sherwood, a Defense Department spokesman, said in an exclusive interview with the New York Post that the government once had a secret initiative called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). It was organized to study and identify aerospace threats and investigate the phenomena of the air that cannot be identified.
The Ministry of Defense said it had suspended the program in 2012. But spokesman Christopher Sherwood has stated that the department currently investigates what is suspected to be an alien spacecraft.
In the 90s, there was a former British journalist who investigated UFO sightings under the direction of the government, according to the New York Post. The journalist, Nick Pope, called the Pentagon’s statements a "bombshell revelation."
This is not the first time AATIP has been widely reported. In 2017, the New York Times reported on the existence of this government program. It is still unclear if the Pentagon publishes this information for any purpose or to comply with the US Freedom of Information Act.
