Misinformation has long been a big challenge for social platforms. As more and more people are getting online, it’s getting easier and easier for fake news to spread widely and quickly. In a new video, it appears that the King of Bahrain arrived with a 2.4-meter tall robot bodyguard. Is it real?
The video illustrates a walking in an event venue, followed by a huge robot. The video’s caption says the man is the Emir of Bahrain who came to Dubai and the robot is his personal bodyguard.
The video was uploaded on several accounts and viewed millions of times, getting thousands of reactions on various social platforms. Many people believed the video was real and the robot was an actual bodyguard. So many bought the video that several publications covered the story as it’s claimed in the video caption.
However, the video is a piece of misleading information that got attention from everyone. The robot in the video was, in fact, a famous robot called Titan, but he wasn’t a bodyguard.
It turns out that the original video was uploaded to YouTube in February last year, which shows its correct details.
The footage was recorded at a defense exhibition in 2019, named Idex Exhibition, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The robot was showcased at the event with the UAE flag on its shoulders and arms.
And the man shown in the video isn’t the Emir of Bahrain. The following picture is the real Emir of Bahrain – Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Since it was first showcased, Titan has attracted a lot of attention across many events. And it’s no surprise that the huge robot surfaced again, making everyone curious.
