The startup scene in India is more vibrant now than ever, and many celebrities want to be part of it. Household names in entertainment and sports do not only endorse tech products or services, but they also invest in making them.
Let’s take a look at some of the Indian celebrities who have an investment in tech startups:
Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan have put around $250,000 into Ziddu.com, a blockchain research startup based in Singapore. Ziddu also provides cloud services with free file hosting.
Sachin Tendulkar

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is one of the investors of Smartron, an IoT startup based in Bangalore. Here is what he said about the venture:
MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, former captain of India Cricket team, is the man behind Run Adam, a platform for athletes to find sponsors, coaches, and other resources. He said that the app would play an essential role in helping sportsperson to achieve their ambitions. He also shared that he ran into lots of difficulties when he first started his career, and the app could assist with addressing them.
Madhuri Dixit

Back in 2014, Madhuri Dixit Nene and her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene, made a venture investment in a healthcare platform called GOQii, which provides wellness experience and end-to-end- healthcare to users.
Akshay Kumar

GOQii also has investment from another actor, Akshay Kumar. Here is what Vishal Gondal, the company’s CEO, said about this venture:
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Both Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 1994 Miss World, and her mother, Vrinda KR, have put INR 50 lakh in Ambee, an environmental intelligence startup based in Bangalore. The company offers consumers, media firms, and health researchers with hyperlocal air quality data so they can make more informed decisions.
Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, an Indian cricketer, made a venture investment in a health-tech company in 2015 through YouWeCan, his venture capital firm. Other startups in his portfolio include Vyomo, a wellness and beauty app; JetSetGo, a private jet marketplace; and Moovo, a mini-truck booking platform.
Robin Uthappa

Cricketer Robin Uthappa invested in HealthEminds, a tech startup focusing on health. It helps users with mental and psychological problems like anxiety, stress, depression, and sleep issues. Back in 2015, he also invested in iTiffin.
Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar is one of Flickbay’s investors. An app for finding films with songs, trailers, news, and almost everything anyone may want to know about the movies on TV or in the theater. The platform makes use of machine learning and AI to recommend each user with unique content.
Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra made her investment in Bumble, a dating app based in the US. She is also an advisor and partner of the startup. It is believed that her inspiration to put money and expertise in tech startup was from Ashton Kutcher, a Hollywood actor.
Anil Kumble

In 2018, Anil Kumble introduced Spektacom, a startup that makes use of technology to level up users’ experience with sports. The company’s first product is Power Bat, which consists of sensors to attach on the cricket bat to gather data in real-time.
