The Incredible Hulk from Louis Leterrier isn’t a sequel to the 2003 Hulk. But most people easily mistook it for one. The new story, after showing the viewers with an expository flashback, begins where there the previous movie ended. Scientist Bruce Banner played by Edward Norton hid in South America after going through a massive radioactive accident causing him to transform into a green giant that break things. We have the same cast from the previous movie as well with Banner, his semi-girlfriend Betty Ross played by Liv Tyler, and her antagonistic father played by William Hurt with the same exact mustache and silver brush cut like Same Elliott from the 2003 Hulk. The first half-hour of the movie is acceptable. Banner is hiding in Brazil, in an industrial town. Here, he spends most of his time on a bottling plant, watching the Sesame Street broadcasts to learn Portuguese,  and taking self-discipline lessons from a martial artist. Although it has been 158 days since Banner transformed into Hulk, he is still being careful about everything. When his finger is cut when he is at the plant, he then shuts down the whole system just to track that single drop of blood.

Apparently, he misses a spot. And soon enough, he is tracked by the military. A commando unit with Blonsky played by Tim Roth as the commander arrives in Brazil to find Banner. That is how a cat-and-mouse chase is started. Eventually, Banner fails to manage his anger and turns into Hulk.

Sadly, the story starts going downhill from there. The Incredible Hulk is the Marvel Studios’ second release, with Iron Man being the first. So the movie still has some sharp, showing moments. But compared to Iron Man, the movie lacks inspiration. The script is good but it isn’t great. Leterrier who is best known for Transporter movies has a merely adequate direction with this movie. None of the cast’s performances are vivid, except for Blonsky played by Roth and Tim Blake Nelson’s character as an overeager scientist.

Considering his talent, it is a disappointment to watch Norton’s performance in this movie. It isn’t totally his fault though.

The actor who played Hulk in the movie is Edward Harrison Norton. He was born on 18 August 1969. He is an actor and filmmaker from America. In his career, Norton has received several nominations and awards, including three Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award.

Norton was born in Massachusetts but was raised in Maryland. As a child, he was interested in theatrical productions. In 1991, after receiving his BA degree from Yale University, he moved to Japan and worked there for a few months before returning to New York City and pursued an acting career.

In 1996, he made his debut with the movie Primal Fear with which he earned a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actor. He was also nominated for an Academy Award in the same category.

In 1998, in American History X, his character as a reformed neo-Nazi earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor category.

In the 2000s, he emerged as a filmmaker.
