According to The New Indian Express, a student from Tamil Nadu has designed the lightest satellite in the world.
S Riyasdeem has built 37mm FEMTO satellites called VISION SAT V1 and V2. The payload of these satellites is 30mm with a weight of 33 gms, setting a new record.

The feat is achieved in a competition carried out by NASA with 1000 participants coming from 73 countries.
Riyasdeen is supported and guided by Chennai-based INRO Labs. His work will be a part of the SR-7 NASA Rocket Mission that will be launched in 2021.
Indian students are known for their innovative inventions. At the beginning of this year, a group of researching students in Punjab has set up an algae-based air purifier. The algae-based air purifier is called OX-C and was a joint invention between Lovely Professional University and IISER Mohali. The group has claimed that their air purifier can neutralize 98% of particulate matter and harmful gasses as well as increasing the amount of oxygen indoors to make it more breathable.

On another occasion, Mahek Mahendra Sha, an IIT-Madras graduate, has built a smart trash can called Airbin. Shar has equipped the garbage bin with some cool IoT goodness, allowing the work of collecting and sanitizing garbage to become a lot simpler. The garbage bin comes with an IoT module and a microchip to send and receive data via wireless tech. There is also a sensor to keep track of the garbage level in a particular bin. If the system detects that the trash can is full, the owner of the garbage bin will receive a message. The garbage collector will also receive a message to come and clear it before it overflows.
