Although PM Modi has decided to extend the national lockdown order until May 3, there are many people who don't seem to take it seriously.
People around the country have been requested to practice social distancing as an effort to “flatten the curve.” While the whole country is trying to contain the spread of the virus, some people just don’t care about it at all.
Recently, Shiv Aroor, an editor shared a video showing hundreds to thousands of people gathering together at a bull’s funeral. Yes, you read it right. A bull’s funeral.
Since then, the video has become viral online. The funeral happened on April 12. An inquiry has been ordered to look into the incident. According to TG Vinay, Madurai District Collector, an FIR has been filed against the funeral’s participants.
Vinay also said that up until now, Tamil Nadu Police had received 3000 lockdown violation cases including the bull’s funeral in a village in Madurai.
Tamil Nadu has recorded more than 1,200 COVID-19 cases. The act of gathering together like this is putting the lives of the residents at risk.
Police have had to take action against lockdown order violators. Recently, ten foreigners who came from different countries were strolling in the Tapovan area when they were caught by the police. As a result, the Rishikesh police punished a group of foreigners by making them write “sorry” 500 times.
For people residing in Karnataka, those who decide to violate lockdown orders will have to clean public places. The first example was observed in Mandya district. The punishment was to clean the Devirammani Lake which is on the town’s outskirts.
