Foreigners In Rishikesh Wrote “Sorry” 500 Times As A Punishment For Violating Lockdown

Amid lockdown, the Rishikesh police punished a group of foreigners for taking a stroll by making them write “sorry” 500 times.

Ten foreigners came from different countries were strolling in the Tapovan area when they were caught by the police. This goes against the lockdown order that requires people to stay inside and maintain social distancing to containing the spread of COVID-19.

Vinod Kumar Sharma, sub-inspector, said that, as a punishment, each of the foreigners had to write a sorry letter 500 times.

These days, in the Tapovan area, there are about 500 foreigners living here. These people are often caught breaking the lockdown orders, throwing caution out of the window.

The decision to punish them was to send out a strong warning to those who have the intention to violate the rules.

That is the punishment for foreigners. What about Indian residents? In a few situations, police had to use their batons and take into custody those leaving their houses for no reasonable purposes.

For people residing in Karnataka, those who decide to violate lockdown orders will have to clean public places. The first example was observed in Mandya district. The punishment was to clean the Devirammani Lake which is on the town’s outskirts.

This method is such a creative one as it can ensure that the violators will learn their lesson while taking care of nature.

But Karnataka police isn’t the only one that has unique ideas to punish disobedient citizens as other state forces also come up with some really unorthodox ways.

On its Twitter account, the Jaipur Police wrote that people who found wandering outside their house for unnecessary purposes would be put in a room with Masakali played on a loop.
