Loganair claimed in a recent statement that it is collaborating with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) to possess adequate air ambulance capability to help them overcome the unprecedented crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic.

Loganair’s airplanes have undergone a transformation to flying ambulances through the use of “EpiShuttles”, which are single patient quarantine pods created by Epiguard, a company from Norway. According to the manufacturer, EpiShuttles can be safely installed in ambulances, helicopters, and airplanes. They enable users to arrange it not only to protect the surroundings from the victim but also to guarantee the patient’s safeness from the surroundings.

At the moment, an aircraft has already been converted to an air ambulance that can carry these EpiShuttles and is in current use in a larger Saab 340 aircraft conversion. The larger plane will be working on all airports in the area.

According to Loganair’s Chief Executive, Jonathan Hinkles, his team attempt to fulfill their plans, turning a concept into an operational solution within one week, has been totally unbelievable. The collaboration between the SAS and Loganair groups on the concept, testing, and training has been successful and brought positive results. Furthermore, he also expressed his gratitude towards the Civil Aviation Authority for their huge contribution to the project.
