One of the most annoying things that AirPods’ users often encounter is losing their precious earphones without knowing. This is why a lot of “saving AirPods” inventions have been created. While some are actually handy and convenient, some are not.
AirBand belongs to the latter. AirBand is created to help people secure their AirPods into their Apple Watch and not falling off. Specifically, this watch band works with all of Apple’s smartwatches. But there are two loops on the band to hold the AirPods.
Needless to say, this is a meaningless product that takes away the elegant beauty of an Apple Watch. On the other hand, a pair of AirPods can either be on a user’s ears or inside their charging case. When not using them, a user would definitely put them inside the charging case. With its compact size, AirPods’ charging case can easily fit into bags.
Explaining the use of this watch band, Matt Youngblood said that it was for temporary use in situations where users don’t have their pocket-sized case on hand.
Youngblood also mentioned some cases where his product may be useful. For example, when you are trying to pay for something at the store or when you are working at a café and you want to put the AirPods down for concentration.
The project can be found on Kickstarter for fundraising with $10,000 as a goal. The product has been tested and is ready for manufacturing. If everything goes according to plan, buyers can receive their AirBand from April. The standard price for one AirBand is $30. Super early birds can get it at $20 and early birds can get it at $25. Also, users can choose from several promotion packs. There’s a Hat Trick pack with which buyers can pay $70 for three bands in any color. Or with Ten Pack, buyers can get 10 bands in any color at $250 and save $50.
