In 2018, Samsung had introduced a shopping application powered by AI named Samsung Mall for the Indian market. The app allowed customers to capture photos of products in real life. Then, it suggested them matching goods from several different e-commerce sites. But according to the latest report from TechCrunch, Samsung has officially terminated this application.

The report of TechCrunch quotes Tizen Help blog, posting a screenshot of a notification alert that the South Korean giant sent to users about the application closure. The alert read:

To recall, the app was first introduced as a “one-stop online experience” application backed by AI for shoppers in India. Samsung had cooperated with e-commerce sites such as Tata Cliq, Amazon, ShopClues, Jabong among others. In addition, the company also pre-installed the application on some of its phones to expand its reach. Also, the app supported Bixby and was unveiled along with the Galaxy On7 Prime last year.
So far, the company hasn’t officially announced about the app closure and its reasons.
The South Korean giant, on the other hand, is preparing for the launch of its next flagship phone worldwide. Samsung Galaxy Note 10, a vital smartphone in Samsung’s series, will be introduced at a release event in New York on 7 August. The company has already confirmed the launch date since it recently sent out its invitations to media outlets. The upcoming Note 10 is expected to have a lot of features. Rumor has it that the company will unveil 2 different versions of this flagship phone.
Samsung Mall application had around 5 million downloads from Play Store in India since March 2018, as per Randy Nelson, SensorTower’s Head of Mobile Insights. However, it started to lose popularity in recent months. He said:
