The giant engines manufacturer specializing in aerospace, Rolls-Royce, has announced its partnership with the IIT Madras on Monday, to encourage and explore more opportunities for joint research projects. Additionally, the company will process a 'Technical Higher Study Framework' as a professional development program for its engineers, stated Roll-Royce. 

Rolls-Royce is famous for its ultra-luxury vehicles.

The company, as well as IIT Madras, has reached a signed MoU for the partnership. As a part of it, both parties will target at pursuing advanced research projects in relevant areas, which supports the company’s programmatic and technological demands in the future.

Kishore Jayaraman, President of Rolls-Royce India and South Asia, added that the collaboration with IIT Madras becomes a great effort that can encourage collaborative research projects with excellent and like-minded partners. He also believes in the potential of exploring research areas that the collaboration can develop the solutions. 

He also noted that the company is willing to leverage the partnership with IIT Madras, a well-known technology institute, in order to enhance the professional development as well as the upskilling of the engineering talent in the company. The collaboration is also beneficial in terms of the facilitation of relevant research areas with high strategic interests, as well as higher education.

Regarding the collaboration, the spokesperson of IIT Madras, V. Kamakoti, mentioned that the partnership with Rolls-Royce is crucial and will definitely promote multi-faceted interdisciplinary technology development relating to the available specializations in IIT Madras, and integrating into specific areas with high application and practical value.

Employees who prefer the studies will need to meet some qualifications, first is the selection process of IIT Madras, and second is the relevance of their research projects with the company’s strategic research capabilities as well as priorities. 

Furthermore, all employees from Rolls-Royce’s Engineering Centre in Bengaluru, who have finished 36-month servicing in the company, will be welcomed to the program. The initiative is aligned with the efforts of the company to enhance development and career growth for engineering talent.v
