To easily detect possible COVID-19 patients via thermal scanning, the police force of Dubai is now using an AI-powered smart helmet equipped with IR camera, car number plate reader, and face recognition to monitor people. In the middle east region, UAE is the first country to deploy this technology.
These helmets can scan the body temperature of commuters inside public transportation. They can also instantly obtain residence details. China is one of the first countries to use these smart helmets for COVID-19 patients tracking in Shenzhen.

The helmet has a head-up display that can scan and the body temperature of any individual in real-time. What the police officer has to do is to put on the helmet and then look at somebody. The body temperature of that person will appear on the display. From that, the police officer will decide whether that individual may be infected with the virus or not.
The helmet also automatically records the number plate of vehicles and runs a quick police record check to find out if there is anything wrong with the driver or the vehicle.
The interesting thing about this helmet is that its design is really simple. It looks just like any other regular helmets. No one can guess that it is equipped with hidden AI-based cameras.

Meanwhile, a company in China claims that it has created the first facial recognition technology in that country that can identify people even whey they are wearing a face mask.
