With the booming of social media platforms, it’s not hard to find examples of followers religiously following social media influencers and keep up with everything they have done. So, when India’s biggest influencer, PM Modi, posted a tweet stating that he might give up all his social media accounts, his fans and followers were very surprised.
His tweet has become viral on the Internet and is one of the most talked topics right now. PM Modi is popular for his social media presence so when he announced that he might quit all social media platforms, everyone was shocked.
During the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, social media had an important role in landing him the country’s most powerful seat.
After the PM posted about his social media detox plan, his followers started using the hashtag #NoSir to urge him to reconsider. The two hashtag #IwillAlsoQuitTwitter and #NoModiNoTwitter took the platform by storms with netizens saying that they will follow PM Modi’s footsteps and delete their Twitter accounts.
His followers posted all sorts of thoughts, from why they decided to join Twitter because of him to how he is an inspiration for Indian people, to convince the country’s most powerful man not to quit using social media platforms.
Some of them even emphasized that they had a special connection with the Prime Minister.
We are unsure whether PM Modi’s decision to quit all social media platforms would affect how he approaches his fans. Since there are no press conferences, Twitter had been one of the few platforms where his fan got to interact with him.
