PM Modi also said the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine to selected groups would start as soon as the scientists developing it said it was ready

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi said India would soon have COVID-19 vaccines.

He announced that the vaccine would be ready in the next few weeks, citing some experts he had contacted. The PM added that as soon as the vaccine had the approval of scientists, it would be administered in the country.

When asked about the vaccine availability once it got approval, PM Modi said the priority would be given to the old who were most vulnerable to other illnesses, frontline workers, and healthcare officials who were treating COVID-19 patients.

About the vaccine distribution after it becomes available, he assured that India had one of the best vaccination networks in the world, which would come in handy when distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.

He also added that the center was in touch with the state governments to come up with better solutions to the distribution matter.
