On May 20, Cyclone Amphan hit eastern India. Amphan was the most powerful cyclone that has ever been recorded in the Bay of Bengal. It ripped apart homes, washed away bridges, tore down trees, and left rural areas without power before it weakened. The cyclone killed at least 90 people.

Evacuation efforts are being complicated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Relief teams are struggling to figure out how to evacuate millions of people but protecting them against COVID-19 at the same time.
