The initiative was kicked off on November 19 and will continue until November 29. In a statement, AirAsia wrote that at the moment, the air quality index of Delhi was 494. The monitoring agency SAFAR reported that with this index measures, fine particulate matter PM 2.5 can penetrate deep into the lungs.

During wintertime, the air becomes cold and heavy because the minimum temperature declines, making it easier for pollutants to accumulate close to the ground. The initiative of AirAsia would help its customers to deal with the shift in the city’s environmental conditions and stay healthy.

Back in December 2018, United Airlines also stopped operating its daily flights from Newark to Delhi, as a result of the extreme pollution. Before these flights were suspended, they also gave passengers smog masks.
