Best Pandemic Movies To Watch During The 21-Day Complete Lockdown

If you have run out of ideas of what to do, here is a list of pandemic movies to watch during the lengthy 21-day complete lockdown

Who would have thought that we would be forced to stay indoors for 21 days, stock food, and work from the comfort of our home. With us suddenly have more free time than we wish for, watching a good movie seems like a decent choice.

While many movies are far from reflecting the real world without a certain degree of exaggeration, sometimes they can give us hope (or despair, depend on what you choose to watch).

So if you have run out of ideas of what to do, here is a list of pandemic movies to watch. Of course you can choose whatever genre you like, but we think this subject is particularly suitable for this trying time.

Contagion (2011)

Contagion was released in 2011 but it seems like it has attracted lots of attention recently with the CO.VID-19 outbreak. Watching this movie and you will see part of what is going on now coming to life in front of you.

Contagion is about some scientists working against the clock to find a vaccine for a disease caused by a virus that is spreading fast. As the story develops, you will see social order comes apart as fear takes over.

The reason why this movie is ranked top on our list is because it was praised by WHO for its accuracy in describing a pandemic. The movie cast includes the top names in Hollywood like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, and Jude Law.

It Comes at Night (2017)

From the producer of The Witch and Hereditary. After a disease spreads all over the globe, a family seeks refuse deep in a wood. However, when they meet another group of survivors and start to bond, strange incidents happen and break the newly emerged affection as tension increases.

This movie sets in the aftermath of a pandemic but the fear of infection still hunts each and everyone in the family. The dead coming back to life, horrible nightmares, do not expect to see anything happy from this movie.

The Host (2006)

Before Parasite, Bong Joon-Ho has had a slew of masterpieces, including this monster movie The Host.

The story starts when an American pathologists and his Korean coworker dump formaldehyde to the Han River. As you may have guessed, the act causes the death of lots of fish and a few years later, a hugh mutant amphibious creature starts to attack humans and kidnap a girl named Hyun-seo.

The authority quarantines the area and announces that the creature might also carry a dangerous virus.

28 Weeks Later (2007)

The scene where Cillian Murphy walks through a deserted London in this movie seems to be the best match for our current 21-day lockdown. 28 Weeks Later sets amid the aftermath of the rage virus outbreak which causes humans to die of hunger.

When everything seems fine again, Don’s children decide to go find their mother, who is presumed to be dead, and the zombies once again wreak havoc.

This movie is so bleak and brutal that the New York Times has described it as “exhaustingly terrifying.”

Zombieland (2009)

With Zombieland, you will see that a global pandemic is not so bad, at least in the movie.

The movie is hilarious and offers a fresh take on a gloomy genre. There is guffaws and gore but also fun, romance, and heartfelt moments.
