Newborn Babies Wear Tiny Face Shields To Avoid Getting Infected By COVID-19

With the spread of COVID-19 around the world, some hospitals are packed with patients. And how the mothers giving birth during this time are feeling is indescribable.

Many pregnant women are concerned about how their babies could be affected by the disease and whether maternity wards may have a shortage of staff, beds, or supplies. The fear got to the point that many pregnant women have been thinking about giving birth in a birthing center or at home.

Countries around the world are trying their best to deal with a surge in the number of COVID-19 patients. Many health facilities have had to set out regulations for the woman who are going into labor like not letting the family come inside the delivery room.

There are also some hospitals that are taking all the precautions to prevent newborn babies from being infected with the virus.

And this hospital in Thailand is doing this really well. To protect the newborn babies, this hospital has decided to give them face shields. And the babies look adorable wearing those.

The idea is from Paolo Hospital in the province of Samut Prakan. The pictures of the babies wearing the face shields were posted on Facebook by the hospital.

Many have expressed their gratitude toward the hospital for taking an extra step to protect the newborns. Meanwhile, some wondered whether this might feel uncomfortable for the babies. But from the pictures, it seems like the babies were too busy sleeping.

Just like India, Thailand has been put under lockdown until April 15. The country has had more than 2,300 cases.

According to a report from the Guardian, there has been no evidence suggesting that the virus can transmit from the mother to the baby. After the baby is born and if the mother has COVID-19, a temporary separation is recommended. CDC also offers advice on breastfeeding precautions.
