NASA Introduces Two Next-Generation Spacesuit For Moon Missions

Two newest spacesuits - the first one will be used for launch and re-entry, and the other for exploring the lunar South Pole.

NASA has unveiled a couple of spacesuits for its upcoming mission named “Project Artemis.” Let's take a look!

NASA prepares two types of spacesuits for Moon and Mars explorations.

As displayed in a video, a new spacesuit will be formed bulky in red, white, and blue while the thinner one is orange-colored. Needless to say, both of them seem to appear in a fashion show of some sort.

The first suit will be tasked with accompanying astronauts when they are on the Moon. On the other hand, they will wear the latter on the way they move from Earth to the Moon and back. If there’ll be any unexpected event leading to the sudden depressurization on the spacecraft, the suit will help astronauts to live inside it for days.

This spacesuit model will give astronauts a lot of mobility when they're on Moon.

Amidst many challenges, making an advanced spacesuit is the fundamental task for the NASA team to work on if they want to travel to the Moon again. The larger spacesuit codenamed “xEMU” will go along with astronauts in every mission on the Moon’s surface, giving them the more shoulder mobility compared with the thinner one. As said by NASA, it allows them to walk almost as naturally as they usually do on Earth. It reportedly allows them to do something they couldn’t in the past, such as reaching overhead and across the body.
